Which vehicles were awarded top safety picks by the IIHS for 2019?
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has been around since 1959. People dedicated to lowering the number of losses related to vehicle accidents make up this group. This includes deaths, injuries, and damages to vehicles. Every year, the group tests vehicles and creates a list of the safest ones based on their tests. Which vehicles were awarded top safety picks by the IIHS for 2019? Keep reading to see if your vehicle made the list!
How does a vehicle win a top safety award?
The IIHS actually gives out two awards every year. They are the Top Safety Pick and the Top Safety Pick+. To win a Top Safety Pick award, a vehicle must meet the following criteria: acceptable or good headlight rating and passenger-side small overlap front test; good rating for driver’s side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, roof strength, and head restraints; and advanced or superior for front crash prevention. To be chosen as a Top Safety Pick+, a vehicle must meet the following criteria: a good rating for headlights, driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraint; and an advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention.
